Cheers to Imperfections

We need broken things.

The quirky things, the things that are out of place.

The hot wheels cars in the silverware drawer. The toddler snacks are left out on the otherwise immaculate living room floor. The brick always comes loose on the walkway path.

Are these hazards, annoyances, or irritations? Or important reminders?

Stopping feels dangerous when you’re in the fast lane on the road to success or perfection.

But what if the greater danger lies in not stopping?

What if we bypass all these “interruptions” and miss the chance to notice the beauty, the spectacle, the imperfections and humanity in our present lives? What if these our bread crumb trails to meaning and joy?

So yes, as I trip over the loose brick on the walkway for the millionth time, I’ll whisper “Cheers to imperfections”.
