Elijah some things I don’t want to forget about you right now ⭐️ you’re 4 and you have everything figured out right now 😁 your going to be a race car driver a daddy a doctor and an artist as of now and I love that you show me and remind me that God created us to be multi faceted and not fit into a box or one role. You say you want more “babies” and I’m not sure if you mean that but I know how much you love your brother. The way you pray for our day and your brother for his naps. The way you talk about saving people and your compassion for others. The way you say swanwhich (sandwich) and chick I’ll a (chick fill a ) and grill (girl). Your generous heart always wanting to make and give surprises to people. How much you love dinosaurs superhero’s and cars. How you tell me you have “plans” for our day. How you like to go grocery shopping and love lunchables. How you collect rocks and sticks for crafts. How you draw people. Your laugh. When you sing songs. When you jump into muddy puddles. When you say you want to have an adventure. How you have your own logic for everything. How you shine Gods light into our lives everyday and the world around you ⭐️ I don’t know everything you will be and do yet but I do know your a gift to our family and this world. I don’t know what school will look like yet but I want a front row seat to watching you grow and learn. You’re the boy that made me a mom and I love you always ⭐️#memoirsofmotherhood

Ezekiel some things I don’t want to forget about you right now ⭐️ at 13 months the words you are saying : boooock (book), buh - Bah (bubba for brother), da da , maaaamma (momma), hiiii , byeee, yesss , no, ice, nigh nigh ( night night). You love to wave high and bye to strangers, you love giving high fives hugs and kisses. The way you walk and run with your legs wide like a cow boy. Your smile your dimples the way you squint your eyes your giggle when something is hysterical. The lightning speed at which you take Dishes out of the dish washer books off the shelf, videos off the entertainment center, clothes out of the closet. The way you lay your head on my shoulder. The way you follow me around the house crying till I pick up and reach for me and take a deep breath and sigh when your sitting on my hip. The way you love fierce and loud, the way you run to your brothers room as soon as you wake up. The way Gods strength shines through you everyday. Yes I’m tired. Yes most days I’m not productive. But yes I love being your mom right now with every atom in me ⭐️ #memoirsofmotherhood .

Circa: earlier this week Monday 1.14.19 the first day of school ✨ this is 12 months post-partum. This is the second semester of school with two babies. This is two pregnancy’s two boys and one thyroid cancer surgery in 3 years. I thought of a lot of reasons to not post this photo. The tired puffy eyes, the round face, the double mom chin. But that’s really just vanity and I’d pick my boys over those flaws being gone any day. and if you think about it their not really flaws. Just life as my toddler says. Tomorow marks the finishing up of the first week of school. It looked something like 150-300pgs of required reading. 3 lectures. 2 discussion posts. 4 study guides. 4 quizzes. 4 power points. And I’m probably forgetting something. But it also looked like me and them and for that I’m forever grateful 🙏🏻⭐️ ❤️ #honestmotherhood#.

Goodbye 2018, hello 2019 🎇 ⭐️ breaking my nearly one month long insta silence(what do you post when your last photo was a Christmas tree?😆) on the grid with a photo of my baby and a sparkler on New Year’s Eve. I know everyone has moved on from the holidays and New Years and is Marie kondo-ing their houses but our Christmas decorations are still up and I’m trying to gently find my way into the new year with God and grace and my boys and then everything else ⭐️ inspired to not hit the ground running on Jan 1st like I usually do and find a different pace. "There was nothing sprinty about a 90 mile trek to Bethlehem, there needn't be here".- @erinloechner . as usual my favourite author has completely spoken right to the heart of things. Nailed a feeling that I don't have words for. I feel that I've run out of time. That I've been running and running just to get here and still come in last. Not running because I want to rush through anything, but running because I feel as though I can't keep up with my own life. This feeling that if I rush a little more I'll arrive to the place I want to be. A place of joy, a place of rest, a place of presence. Mary and Joseph arrived exactly where they were meant to be. Without rushing. We don't have to "earn" our rest. Or our joy. It is a free gift. A free gift that was born in a stable and arrived exactly when it needed to. Not late not early but exactly when the world needed to receive it. Thanking God for the gifts He gives us freely.. ✨ praying for joy peace and rest as we head into christmas eve and Christmas day even if I don't feel I've done all I needed to or wanted to but the greatest task has already been done! This time of year I find that many of us are needing less not more, less to do, less to worry about. Especially with our food, at least for me and my kids I feel like we need simpler (but not less flavorful) meals that are nourishing during these cold and busy wintry months.
